I live in Butte County now,Concow to be exact and my Brethren and Sistren live all over California,and we all are suffering.The smoke alone is effecting people hundreds of miles away.
I and I land in Concow has burned, just ashes left. They won't let us in to check on the damage yet, it's too soon.
We now know that the latest"flareup" that burned through Concow was caused by a poorly managed backfire.All the evacuation orders had been lifted 5 days before and a zealous crew took it upon themselves to try a backfire,with a 30 mile per hour down canyon wind, and minimal resources available, in short we had 45 minutes to gather what we could and run for our lives.
My neighbor lost his horses, cows, dogs,cats, and friends. There are more dead people in Concow, the bodies just have'nt been found yet, as they always say 1/2 the story has never been told. I speak the truth here.
But through the blessings of the most high, I and I survived.
The land has been cleansed,all the while lives were lost, dreams shattered, and hope kindled.
In this time we must join together in spirit and positivity, to overstand and move on.
